70% of us suffer imposter syndrome.

If you do, here’s 3 strategies for overcoming it…

Harvard Business Review says that imposter syndrome usually involves:

  • Believing others have overestimated us
  • Feeling like a fraud
  • Minimising our achievements

Most of us experience it.

But it can be hard to shake.

So, here’s four research-backed ways to overcome it, according to Kess Eruteya and Harvard Business Review:

1. Keep a positive mindset

  • When given a job you feel unequipped for, focus on reality: your boss believes in you and your ability to do a good job. Mindfully focus on this, each time you feel doubt.
  • Keep a wins register. Once a month, write a list of wins and what actions you took to achieve them.

2. Celebrate wins

  • Next time you reach a milestone, don’t move straight on to the next thing.
  • Instead, pause and celebrate the win. Do something to feel it, like taking yourself to dinner or calling a friend to share the achievement.

3. Make a plan

  • Imposter syndrome can panic us. Combat this by developing a plan to succeed, which helps manage our nerves, builds a sense of control and makes success more likely.
  • Break your goal into small, actionable steps. Write them down and and tackle them, one at a time.

Imposter syndrome is normal. Most of the people we imagine to be gliding through life experience it too.

Overcome it by maintaining a positive mindset, celebrating your wins and making a plan.

This will alleviate anxiety and increase your chances of success.
