We can be good at many things. But what does it take to be great?

In his book ‘Outliers’, Malcolm Gladwell states that it takes 10,000 hours of “deliberate practice” to become world-class in any field.

I recently came across the purest expression of the 10,000-Hour Rule that I’ve seen – Chad Smith on Drumeo.

Chad Smith is best known as the drummer for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

In this video, he listens to “The Kill” by Thirty Seconds To Mars for the first time and attempts to craft his own drum part.

Whether it’s your type of music or not, I think anyone can appreciate the pure ability expressed in the performance.
